What to do on a rest day and a Sunday?
How about taking communion in the amazing Le Puy Cathedral – Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy. Well that’s exactly what I did. It’s the first time I’ve witnessed first hand anything on so grand a scale and to say I was awestruck is an understatement. Even though I could not understand the language, it left a huge impression on me spiritually.
I then popped into the gift shop and a very nice nun gave me my Créanciale, or passport for the upcoming Pilgrims Way. A donation saw my first stamp on said passport, so I’m officially on my way. Actually I start in the morning!
The rest of the day was spent finding the various shops I needed, which of course were not open, but knowing where they are will save time tomorrow. I also managed to find the local laundromat, so got my washing done. You’ve seen that Levi advert where the guy takes off his jeans and puts them in the washer? well I took off most of my clothes to the giggles of a couple of French girls. Don’t worry, I remained decent!
Then back to the local bar, where drinking copious amounts of tea earned me the right to use their free wifi where I posted my last updates from. Amazing what you can find in the larger towns/cities.
If the weather improves, I’ll get some pictures before I leave Le Puy.
